He is proud to back Wellington City Council's Rainbow Action Plan.

Andrew's record standing up for Rainbow LGBTQIA+ communities as a senior Cabinet Minister included:

  • Commencing the policy work that led to the ban on "conversion therapy",

  • Passing the Criminal Records (Expungement of Convictions for Historical Homosexual Offences) Act 2018,

  • Overseeing the intelligence agencies gaining the Rainbow Tick.
